House Censure Vote: DOJ Lags in Trump Indictments, Schiff Regrets

Republicans Fail to Censure Dem Rep Schiff

The US House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to censure Republican Rep. Adam Schiff, accusing him of mischaracterizing intelligence in his role as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee during the Trump-Russia investigation.

In a rare move, the House voted 223-186 to censure Schiff, with every Republican voting in favor and every Democrat voting against. The censure resolution accused Schiff of "misrepresenting and misleading the American people" about Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Schiff Expresses Regrets in NPR Interview

In a wide-ranging interview with NPR's Michel Martin, Rep. Schiff discussed his regrets from the Trump-Russia investigation. Schiff said that he regretted not being more forceful in his public statements about the investigation and that he wished he had done more to counter the Trump administration's attacks on the probe.

"I regret that I was not more forceful in my public statements about the investigation," Schiff said. "I regret that I did not do more to counter the Trump administration's attacks on the probe. I regret that I did not do more to defend the integrity of the investigation."

DOJ Criticized for Slow Pace in Trump Indictments

Meanwhile, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has been criticized for its slow pace in indicting former President Donald Trump. Despite mounting evidence of potential crimes, the DOJ has yet to charge Trump with any wrongdoing.

Some legal experts have argued that the DOJ is hesitant to indict Trump because of the potential political consequences. However, others believe that the DOJ is simply taking its time to build a strong case against Trump.
