Unlike many towns that abandoned streetcars in the late 1930s through the 1950s, Fort Worth, Texas, held onto its system well into the 1960s. In 1963, the Fort Worth Transit Authority began to replace its streetcars with buses. The last streetcar ran in Fort Worth on June 29, 1963. However, the city did not completely abandon its streetcar system. In 1989, the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (FWTA) opened a new streetcar line, known as the Sundance Square Streetcar. The Sundance Square Streetcar is a modern streetcar system that operates on a 1.1-mile (1.8-kilometer) loop in downtown Fort Worth.

In 2011, the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) began to replace its fleet of Crown Victoria Police Interceptors with Dodge Chargers.
